  • Chop Hock Heng

    Hock Heng has a wide range of jigs from a limited range of brands. They also sell pre-tied flies (useful for lurers) as well as unique lures such as floating rats and squids.     Deep Sea has a large variety of unconventional artificial baits (lures) but is limited in brand variety. Parking lots line the narrow streets around this shop.   • Fishing Buddy (East Branch)

    Fishing Buddy (East Branch) is located in Marine Parade. Their house brand is Meiho/Versus and you can get those items at a significantly reduced price as compared to other shops. Fishing Buddy has its own website. However, be warned, the prices on the website are rarely updated with the prices of the items at the store. You may find yourself purchasing an item that is more expensive at the store than when online. They sell live prawns.

  • Gary’s Tackle

    Gary’s is located at Changi Village. His new shop is bigger than the last one but feels more cramped. He sells live milkfish, mullet, prawns and sandworms. The nearest carpark uses the EPS parking system.

  • Hong Guan Pro-Fishing

  • Le Anglers’ House

    Le Anglers’ House is located in Bedok. Despite being touted as a popular shop for jigging enthusiasts, they have a limited range of jigs (although from a variety of brands) and a limited range of hooks (for jigging, luring, bottom, etc). They do have some unique hooks though. They also carry the Asari Iron Braid (Metal Core) which is a kevlar assist line with metal strands in the core. There are multiple strands so it is possible that its breaking strain is as rated. The carpark nearest this shop is your standard HDB carpark with standard coupon periods. They sell live prawns.

  • Pioneer Concept Store
    A reader informed me that the old Hong Guan Store is long gone but it has been replaced by this one. I haven’t been there myself yet so no pictures for the moment. Apparently though, they have a “cool FISHING SIMULATOR in the shop”. I must make haste to try it out.

    Sabre has shifted to Arab Street. Their house brand is Halco but they also carry other products. They also carry Berkley Gulp in big containers with the liquid.   • TCE Tackles Singapore Pte Ltd

    TCE Tackles is located in a multi storey industrial complex called Wcega Plaza in Bukit Batok. They do not sell any bait. Like most multi storey industrial buildings, parking is free. The shop is located on the same floor as ground level parking so when you enter the complex, skip the first large “road” and the next 2 narrow alleyways and turn left at the second large “road”. If parking is limited at this “road”, you can also park at the second narrow alleyway (which will lead you to the side entrance of the shop – if it is open).

    Kelong Sotong refers to fresh dead squid that has been meticulously prepared to avoid any contact with fresh water.

      You could catch Kims, groupers, and stingrays. I’ve caught 1 or 2 groupers and 1 or 2 stingrays. I honestly think catching the groupers was a fluke but clearly they do bite. I have never caught a Kim on milkfish unfortunately.
